A simple, rich, and creamy chocolate mousse made without dairy or eggs, using avocado for texture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe avocados, pitted and scooped
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened plant milk (almond or soy)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons melted coconut oil (optional, for firmness)

Instructions

  1. Place the avocado flesh, cocoa powder, maple syrup, plant milk, vanilla extract, and salt into a food processor or high-speed blender.
  2. Process the ingredients until completely smooth and creamy. Stop and scrape down the sides as needed to ensure no avocado chunks remain.
  3. If using, add the melted coconut oil and process for another 10 seconds to combine.
  4. Taste the mousse and add more sweetener or cocoa powder if desired.
  5. Divide the mousse into small serving dishes or ramekins.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow it to firm up slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Use very ripe avocados for the best texture and to ensure the avocado flavor is completely masked.
  • For an extra rich flavor, use high-quality dark cocoa powder.
  • If the mixture is too thick after chilling, add plant milk one teaspoon at a time until the desired consistency is reached.
