Make a cafe-style strawberry cream cold brew at home using a simple strawberry syrup and homemade cold foam topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup strong cold brew coffee concentrate
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries, halved
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 2 tablespoons strawberry syrup (from above)
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Make the strawberry syrup: Combine water, sugar, and strawberries in a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Mash the strawberries lightly. Simmer for 10 minutes until slightly reduced. Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing on the solids to extract liquid. Discard solids. Stir in vanilla extract. Let cool completely.
  2. Prepare the coffee base: Mix the cold brew concentrate with 1/2 cup of cold water.
  3. Make the cold foam: Pour heavy whipping cream, milk, and 2 tablespoons of the cooled strawberry syrup into a tall container.
  4. Froth the mixture using an immersion blender or a handheld milk frother until thick and airy, about 1-2 minutes.
  5. Assemble the drink: Fill a tall glass with ice. Pour the sweetened cold brew mixture over the ice.
  6. Spoon the strawberry cold foam gently over the top of the coffee. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • If you do not have cold brew concentrate, steep 1/2 cup of coarse-ground coffee in 2 cups of cold water for 12-18 hours, then strain.
  • For a thicker foam, use only heavy cream and omit the milk.
  • Adjust the amount of strawberry syrup in the foam to control sweetness.
