Follow this simple method to roast sweet potato chunks until they are crispy outside, tender inside, and lightly caramelized with a cinnamon-honey glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch chunks
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. Place the sweet potato chunks in a large bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and toss to coat evenly.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, cinnamon, salt, and pepper.
  4. Pour the honey mixture over the sweet potatoes and toss again until every piece is lightly coated.
  5. Spread the sweet potatoes in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Do not overcrowd the pan; use two sheets if necessary to ensure crispiness.
  6. Roast for 20 to 25 minutes, flipping the potatoes halfway through the cooking time.
  7. Continue roasting until the edges are slightly browned and caramelized, and the potatoes are easily pierced with a fork. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, ensure the potatoes are in a single layer on the baking sheet without touching.
  • If you prefer a savory profile, omit the honey and cinnamon, and instead use 1 teaspoon smoked paprika and 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder with the olive oil.
  • Adjust roasting time based on the size of your potato chunks. Smaller pieces cook faster.
