You need to make this viral Marry Me Chicken. It features tender chicken breasts smothered in a rich, creamy sun-dried tomato and Parmesan sauce. This recipe delivers impressive, restaurant-quality flavor but is simple enough for a quick weeknight meal or a special date night dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes, packed in oil and drained, roughly chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken breasts evenly on both sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
  2. Heat the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Place the seasoned chicken breasts in the hot skillet and sear for 5 to 7 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature reaches 165°F). Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
  4. Reduce the heat to medium. Add the minced garlic to the same skillet and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Do not let the garlic burn.
  5. Pour in the chicken broth and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Let the broth simmer for 1 minute.
  6. Stir in the heavy cream and the chopped sun-dried tomatoes. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer.
  7. Reduce the heat to low. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and thickened. Taste the sauce and add more salt or pepper if needed.
  8. Return the cooked chicken breasts to the skillet. Spoon the creamy sauce over the chicken. Let it simmer gently for 2 to 3 minutes to heat the chicken through and allow it to absorb the sauce flavor.
  9. Remove from heat. Garnish with fresh chopped basil before serving immediately over pasta or rice.

Notes

  • For a ‘Marry Me Chicken Pasta’ variation, cook 8 ounces of your favorite pasta according to package directions. Reserve 1/2 cup of the starchy pasta water before draining. Add the cooked pasta directly to the skillet with the sauce and chicken, using the reserved pasta water to thin the sauce to your desired consistency.
  • You can substitute chicken thighs for breasts if you prefer a richer flavor, adjusting the cooking time as needed.
  • Use good quality Parmesan cheese that you grate yourself for the best melting texture in the sauce.
