Ingredients
Scale
1 pound ground beef
1 onion, chopped
1 can (10.75 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 can (10.75 ounces) condensed cream of chicken soup
1 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
1 (32 ounce) package frozen tater tots
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and chopped onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is tender. Drain off any excess grease.
Stir in the condensed cream of mushroom soup, condensed cream of chicken soup, sour cream, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
Stir in 1 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and combined.
Spread the meat mixture evenly into the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer over the meat mixture.
Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the tater tots.
Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and the casserole is bubbly.
Let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For an extra layer of flavor, you can add a pinch of garlic powder to the meat mixture.
If you prefer a crispier topping, you can broil the casserole for the last 2-3 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning.
