Ingredients
Scale
2 ham steaks (about 1/2 inch thick)
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/4 cup honey
2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
Pinch of black pepper
Instructions
Pat the ham steaks dry with paper towels.
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Place the ham steaks in the hot skillet and cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side until lightly browned.
While the ham cooks, whisk together the honey, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, and black pepper in a small bowl to make the glaze.
Reduce the heat to medium-low. Pour the prepared glaze over the ham steaks in the skillet.
Cook for 1 to 2 minutes per side, spooning the glaze over the steaks continuously until the glaze thickens slightly and coats the ham well. Do not let the sugar burn.
Remove the ham steaks from the skillet and serve immediately with the remaining pan glaze spooned over the top.
Notes
For a crispier edge, increase the heat slightly during the initial sear, but watch carefully to prevent burning the glaze later.
Serve these ham steaks with mashed potatoes or simple steamed green beans.
You can use yellow mustard if Dijon is unavailable, but adjust the amount slightly to taste.
