Make incredibly fluffy, high-protein waffles perfect for your muscle building breakfast goals. This recipe uses whey isolate and egg whites for maximum protein content without sacrificing texture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 scoop vanilla whey isolate protein powder
  • 1/4 cup oat flour (or almond flour for low carb protein waffles)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup liquid egg whites
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil, melted (optional, for richness)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s directions. Lightly spray with cooking spray if needed.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: protein powder, oat flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. In a separate small bowl, whisk the liquid egg whites until slightly frothy.
  4. Add the egg whites, almond milk, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix; a few small lumps are fine.
  5. If using, gently fold in the melted coconut oil. The batter will be thick.
  6. Pour the batter onto the hot waffle iron. Use the amount appropriate for your iron size, usually about 1/3 to 1/2 cup.
  7. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes, or until the steam stops escaping and the waffle is golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Carefully remove the waffle and serve immediately with your favorite macros friendly toppings.

Notes

  • For a casein waffle mix texture, substitute half the whey powder with casein powder. This results in a slightly denser but very filling waffle.
  • If you need keto friendly high protein breakfast options, substitute the oat flour with 2 tablespoons of almond flour and 1 tablespoon of coconut flour.
  • To achieve the fluffiest result, ensure your baking powder is fresh.
