Prepare a restaurant-quality Garlic Butter Shrimp Rice Bowl featuring succulent shrimp coated in rich garlic butter and topped with a separate, flavorful garlic sauce, served over steamed rice.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced (for shrimp)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup uncooked long-grain white rice (or sushi rice)
  • 2 cups water (for rice)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced (for sauce)
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
  • 1 cup steamed broccoli florets (optional addition)

Instructions

  1. Cook the rice according to package directions using 2 cups of water. Set aside and keep warm.
  2. Prepare the garlic sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, lemon juice, 3 minced garlic cloves, Dijon mustard, and paprika until smooth. Set aside.
  3. Season the shrimp with salt and pepper.
  4. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the 4 minced garlic cloves and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
  5. Add the seasoned shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side until pink and opaque.
  6. Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter to the skillet. Baste the shrimp with the melted garlic butter mixture until fully cooked. Remove shrimp from the heat.
  7. Assemble the bowls: Divide the cooked rice among serving bowls. Top the rice with the garlic butter shrimp and steamed broccoli, if using.
  8. Drizzle a generous amount of the prepared garlic sauce over the shrimp and rice. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer sauce, substitute half of the mayonnaise with sour cream or Greek yogurt.
  • If you prefer a spicier flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the shrimp while cooking.
  • You can substitute jasmine rice for long-grain white rice.
