- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, combine the flour and salt.
- Cut the cold butter into the flour mixture using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add the shredded cheddar cheese to the flour and butter mixture. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead briefly, just until the dough comes together. Do not overwork the dough.
- Roll the dough out thinly, about 1/16 inch thick.
- Use a small cookie cutter or knife to cut the dough into small squares or desired shapes.
- Place the crackers on the prepared baking sheet. Prick each cracker once or twice with a fork.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown and the crackers are crisp.
- Let the crackers cool completely on the baking sheet before serving for maximum crispness.
Notes
- For extra flavor, use a mix of cheddar and Parmesan cheese.
- If you want a low-carb version, substitute almond flour for the all-purpose flour.
- For ranch flavor, add 1 teaspoon of dry ranch seasoning mix with the flour and salt.
