Make incredibly tender steak bites with minimal effort using your slow cooker. This hands-off recipe delivers juicy, flavorful beef perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into pieces
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Place the cubed steak into your slow cooker.
  2. Sprinkle the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder over the steak pieces and toss to coat them evenly.
  3. Pour the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce over the steak. Stir gently to combine the liquids with the seasonings.
  4. Scatter the pieces of butter over the top of the steak mixture. Add the minced garlic.
  5. Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 4 to 5 hours, or on HIGH for 2 to 3 hours, until the steak is fork-tender. Do not lift the lid during cooking.
  6. Once cooked, remove the lid. If you prefer a thicker sauce, you can remove the steak and simmer the liquid on the stovetop until reduced slightly.
  7. Stir the steak bites gently in the remaining sauce. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
  8. Serve these juicy steak bites over mashed potatoes or rice for a complete meal.

Notes

  • For the best ‘melt-in-your-mouth’ results, use sirloin or chuck steak and cook on the LOW setting for the full duration.
  • If you want to make this a smothered steak dinner, add 1 cup of sliced onions and 2 cups of sliced potatoes to the slow cooker along with the steak.
  • To achieve a sear before slow cooking (optional but recommended for deeper flavor), quickly brown the steak cubes in a hot skillet before adding them to the crockpot.
