This Cherry Dump Cake recipe is the simplest dessert you will make. It delivers a warm, bubbly, sweet cherry base with a buttery, crisp topping, much like a cobbler. It requires no mixing bowl.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling
  • 1 (15.25 ounce) box yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Pour the entire can of cherry pie filling into the prepared baking dish. Spread it evenly across the bottom.
  3. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the cherry filling. Do not mix the layers.
  4. Pour the melted butter evenly over the dry cake mix layer.
  5. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the cherry filling is bubbly around the edges.
  6. Let the Easy Cherry Dump Cake cool slightly before serving warm.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, substitute the yellow cake mix with a white or butter cake mix.
  • If you want a crunch, sprinkle 1 cup of chopped pecans or walnuts over the butter layer before baking. This makes a great Dump Cake Variation.
  • This recipe is a fantastic Potluck Dessert Easy option because it travels well and reheats nicely.
  • Serve your Warm Bubbly Dessert with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for the best experience.
