Ingredients
Scale
2 lbs chicken wings, separated into flats and drumettes
1 tablespoon baking powder (aluminum-free)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon lemon pepper seasoning (store-bought or homemade)
1 tablespoon melted butter (optional, for tossing after cooking)
Instructions
Pat the chicken wings very dry using paper towels. This step helps achieve crispiness.
In a large bowl, toss the dry wings with baking powder, salt, and black pepper until lightly coated. The baking powder aids in browning and crisping.
Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (195°C) for 5 minutes.
Arrange the wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd; work in batches if necessary.
Air fry for 18 minutes.
Flip the wings. Increase the temperature to 400°F (200°C) and cook for another 5 to 7 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the skin is golden brown and crispy.
Remove the wings from the air fryer. Place them in a clean bowl.
If using, drizzle with melted butter and immediately toss with the lemon pepper seasoning until evenly coated.
Serve immediately.
Notes
For extra flavor, you can toss the wings with a teaspoon of garlic powder along with the baking powder mixture.
If you prefer a stronger lemon flavor, mix the cooked wings with a small amount of fresh lemon zest before serving.
To prevent sticking, lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray before adding the wings, even if you are using parchment liners.
