Make crispy French toast sticks quickly in your air fryer, coated in a simple cinnamon sugar mixture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 slices thick bread (like brioche or challah)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Cut each slice of bread into three equal sticks.
  2. In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon.
  3. In a separate shallow dish, mix the 1/4 cup sugar and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon for the coating.
  4. Dip each bread stick into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off. Do not soak the bread.
  5. Place the coated sticks in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Work in batches if necessary.
  6. Lightly spray the tops of the sticks with cooking spray.
  7. Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 6 to 8 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Immediately toss the hot sticks in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.
  9. Serve warm with maple syrup or your preferred dip.

Notes

  • For a crispier exterior, lightly spray both sides of the bread sticks with cooking spray before dipping in the egg mixture.
  • If you want to make these ahead, assemble the sticks (steps 1-4) and place them on a parchment-lined tray in the freezer. When ready to cook, place frozen sticks directly into the air fryer and add 2-3 minutes to the cooking time.
  • Use Texas toast or thick-cut bread for the best texture that holds up during air frying.
